A shocking incident came to light in Bulandshahr district of western Uttar Pradesh where a Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) candidate got his brother killed for wooing voters and getting ‘sympathy votes.’

The dead bodies of RLD candidate Manoj Gautam’s elder brother Vinod Gautam and a distant relative, Sachin, were found in a mango orchard on Tuesday.

As per reports, on Monday, both the deceased were present at the rally of RLD leader Jayant Chaudhary and both of them went missing after the rally concluded.

“After scanning the call records, we zeroed in two suspects, who were found involved in shooting the youths. We nabbed them and were shocked to know the involvement of Manoj in the crime,” SP (Rural) Jagdish Sharma told a news portal.

Jagdish Sharma further added that the licensed revolver of Manoj was used in the murder and he has been arrested.

Last year, Manoj got a ticket from the Khurja seat from the BSP, but a few days ago, Mayawati changed the candidate and gave the ticket to Arjun Singh.

Manoj’s driver Pravindra and an accomplice Firoz who were also involved in the murder have also been arrested by the police.
