Police in Kokata, West Bengal, discovered the dead body of a Japanese man on Friday. The body was discovered at the Novotel hotel in New Town area of Kolkata.

The deceased person has been identified as Masanori Hori. The staff of the hotel, while tending to Nori, saw that the elderly man had bolted the door from the inside and was not opening it despite being called repeatedly.

In the afternoon, with the help of a master key, the staff entered the room and found Nori unconscious on his bed. When staffers rushed him to the local hospital, he was declared as brought dead.

While police suspect that Nori must have suffered from cardiac arrest, they have sent his body for post-mortem to ascertain any other unnatural cause of his death.

“Since the body was found under mysterious circumstances, we have started an unnatural death case. The post-mortem report will clear the air,” New Town police said in the case.

Police also found an empty liquor bottle on the reading desk of the room.
