AIADMK General Secretary VK Sasikala took a huge setback on Saturday when the tall leader of the party C Ponnaiyan extended his support to the interim Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, O Panneerselvam.

Ponnaiyan is one of the founding members of the AIADMK and has served in all the 3 cabinets of MG Ramachandran.

Earlier, two Members of Parliament, PR Sundaram and Ashok Kumar, also joined the camp of Tamil Nadu CM.

Another big twist was Education Minister K Pandirajan’s u-turn on Sasikala as he switched allegiances with TN CM’s faction.

O Panneerselvam has been aggressively expanding his support base and with Ponnaiyan on his side, it is being speculated that many others can follow.

Panneerselvam resigned on January 5 as the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu and paved the way for VK Sasikala to take the helm. But he returned to contend for the state’s most sought after post claiming that he was ‘forced’ to resign and Jayalalithaa’s ‘spirit’ wants him to reveal the truth.
