A Congress party activist on Saturday purportedly threw a bottle of ink at former Maharashtra Chief Minister Ashok Chavan during a late night rally in Hasanbagh area, near east Nagpur.
The former CM was campaigning for party candidates for the Nagpur Municipal Corporation and zilla parishad elections when a tussle within the party intensified.

The incident serves as a testament to the bitter tussle within the party for tickets for the upcoming poll.
The ink attacker has been identified as Lalit Baghel. The poll meeting was also attended by local leaders, one of them former union minister Vilas Muttemwar.
The former CM, when asked about the incident, said that it was a plot by the Rashtriya Swayamseval Sangh (RSS).
“We will continue to fight against such forces and ensure they do not succeed in their game plan,” he said.
