3.29 lakh litre liquor and Rs. 16.52 cr of cash was seized by the Election Commission of India during the second phase of polling in Uttar Pradesh.

In a press conference in Delhi Election Commission revealed that 1.9 Kg of gold and drugs worth Rs 1.16cr were also seized during the second phase of polling.


Uttar Pradesh on Wednesday voted for 67 assembly constituencies in the second of the seven-phase election.

As the poll campaign simmered down on Monday, the fate of 720 candidates was sealed by the voters in the Western Uttar Pradesh region today. 

66.5% voter turnout was recorded in the second phase of Uttar Pradesh Election.

During the first phase of Uttar Pradesh elections on Saturday Cash worth 19.56 crore, 4.44 lakh litres liquor, drugs and gold were seized.

In the first phase drug worth 96.93 lakh, gold & silver of 14 crores in multiple raids conducted by EC across the poll-bound Western region of UP.
