Armed gunmen on Thursday looted Rs 3 lakh from Jammu and Kashmir Bank, in Shopian district in Kashmir.
The robbers entered the Turkewangam branch of the J&K Bank and took away the money at gunpoint. “An alert has been sounded to trace the robbers,” a police officer said.
The four suspected gunmen believed to be the militants forcibly entered the bank and fired some shots in before fleeing away from the crime scene.
Earlier, armed gunmen in December last year looted around Rs 11 lakh from the Jammu and Kashmir Bank, Ratnipora branch in Pulwama.
Post-November after PM Narendra Modi’s demonetisation move, several similar cases have occurred in the state of Jammu and Kashmir.
