Amid the election season in five states in India, Kullu police arrested a United States (US) national with drugs from Naggar, Himachal Pradesh.

Around 126 kilogram of cannabis sativa or ‘ganja’ was recovered from the US national’s possession. 1296 gram of hashish was also recovered from him.


The Kullu police also informed the media that 9 litres of hash oil was also found with him.

A case under NDPS Act has been registered against the US national and police are further probing the matter.

Earlier, An Israeli national, who was convicted in a drugs smuggling case, was on Thursday repatriated to his home country.

The extradition formalities of the Israeli national, Lior Avi Ben Moyal, were completed and he was handed over to Israeli authorities in Mumbai on Thursday from where he was flown to Israel.

Moyal was arrested by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) in February 2005 in a drug smuggling case. He was later convicted by a court here in July 2011 and sentenced to 16 years of rigorous imprisonment. He was lodged in the Burail jail here.
