Samajwadi Party ‘headlines maker’ Azam Khan it seems has started a fresh controversy by saying that Muslims deliver more children as they are not employed.
While addressing a rally in Allahabad, Uttar Pradesh Azam Khan said, ”Muslims deliver more children as they are unemployed and have no work to do.”
Azam Khan also said that if the people from the minority community have a job they would not do so.
This was seen by many as an attempt to attract Muslim voters during the ongoing UP elections.
As per reports, Azam Khan also said that Hindus don’t deliver more kids as they are employed.
“Had Badshaah (Emperor) Modi paid more heed to giving Muslims employment, the Muslims would have not produced so much,” he said.
“Sitting idle, Muslims have no work but to give birth to more children” he added.
Azam Khan’s remarks is being seen as a response to Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Sakshi Maharaj’s statement that “Population is rising rapidly, and so are the country’s problems. But Hindus are not responsible for this. Those who talk about four wives and 40 children are responsible.”
Bahujan Samaj Party and BJP have heavily criticised Khan’s statement.
Reacting sharply to the statement, Bharatiya Janata Party state General Secretary Vijay Bahadur Pathak said Azam Khan should know that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been at the helm for a little over two years.
“Azam Khan should ask this question to the Congress, whom they have supported in the past and have formed an alliance with on why Muslims are still unemployed,” he said.
