Rumours have engulfed the disintegrating health of Raj Thackeray’s son which have taken on such intensity that some say he may be suffering from some form of cancer. However, when asked about his health and his prolonged stays at the hospital, the MNS chief’s son said that things had been blown out of proportion.

“I am absolutely fine. I was suffering from asthma. Then I had a throat infection which aggravated the asthma. I’m also allergic to dust, so I was hospitalised for three days. The throat infection may have been due to the change in the weather. Now I’m back from hospital and absolutely fine. All the rumours are false and there’s nothing to worry about,” the Mumbai Mirror quoted Amit as saying.

Due to Raj Thackeray delaying his campaign and him addressing the public about the failing health of his son, the rumours started circulating. In a rally at Vikhroli, the MNS chief said, “My son is in hospital, which is why it took me some time to reach this venue. I am shuttling between hospital and home for the last seven to eight days and therefore was not able to pay full attention to poll campaigns last week,” he had said. He had also said that such news cannot be kept under wraps, without making any mention of what illness he was suffering from.”

The 24-year-old said that asthma runs his family and that he suffers from the illness since infancy.

“I’m not under any kind of constant monitoring. I avoid eating outside food and dusty places. I’ve been told to have home cooked food. And I carry my inhaler with me. That’s about it,” he said.
