Condemning the death of a 32-year-old Indian engineer in Kansas, the US, the External Affairs Minister, Sushma Swaraj on Friday said that the government will provide all the help and assistance to the bereaved family.

Expressing her shock over the incident, Swaraj tweeted, “I am shocked at the shooting incident in Kansas in which Srinivas Kuchibhotla has been killed. My heartfelt condolences to bereaved family”


Swaraj said that she has already spoken to the Indian Ambassador in US and two Embassy officials have been rushed to the city of Kansas to assist the shooting victim.

The incident took place on Wednesday, when the shooter identified as Adam Purinton, shot Srinivas Kuchibhotla, Alok Madasani, and one another at a bar in Olathe, Kansas.

Srinivas Kuchibhotla, died in the hospital while the two others were released from the hospital on Thursday.


The arrested gunman, a 51-year-old US Navy veteran, allegedly yelled “get out of my country” before he started the shooting at the bar.

He is charged with first-degree murder in the death of one of his victims.

Kuchibhotla worked with the Aviation Systems Engineering team at Garmin Ltd, in Olathe.
