Backing former Tamil Nadu chief minister O Panneerselvam, Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK), on Saturday, demanded to conduct a judicial inquiry into the death of J Jayalalithaa.
DMK said that their working president MK Stalin has been demanding the inquiry ever since Jayalalithaa was admitted to the hospital.
Talking to a news agency, DMK spokesperson, A Saravanan said that, Stalin wanted the Centre to intervene in the matter, and a documented report should be published by the state government.
Panneerselvam’s demand for a probe only strengthens what Stalin has been asking for long now, said Saravanan. “There is something mysterious. So, let them enquire,” he added.
Earlier on Friday, Panneerselvam during the birth anniversary celebrations of Jayalalithaa, once again raised the demand to probe her death. “When I was CM, I initiated an inquiry into Jayalalithaa’s death, the government should inquire into it; we will keep fighting,” said Panneerselvam.
As per the Apollo Hospitals report, former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa died on December 8, after failing to recover from a cardiac arrest.
