Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister launched a scathing attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Lucknow on Sunday, ahead of the fifth phase of UP assembly polls.

While addressing the media in a press conference, the UP CM targeted the PM over his monthly radio address ‘Mann Ki Baat’ saying that the people of Uttar Pradesh are waiting to hear some ‘Kaam ki baat’ also from the Prime Minister.

Addressing the ongoing war of words between the two in the light of PM’s ‘religious-discrimination’ claim over electricity supply, the incumbent CM challenged the Prime Minister for a debate on the issue.

“Samajwadis have worked for development without any discrimination and I am ready for a debate on it,” said the Samajwadi Party chief.

Akhilesh also questioned the BJP’s intention behind their proposal of waiving state farmers’ loans. “Are you promising this just to win the elections”, he asked.

Rubbishing claims that Gorakhpur doesn’t get electricity, Akhilesh Yadav said, “I challenge anybody to touch a live electricity wire in Gorakhpur to find out if it there’s electricity or not”.

“I made sure that land for setting up of AIIMS was allocated in Gorakhpur. I want to ask when will that AIIMS be ready”, added Akhilesh.

Notably, Uttar Pradesh will go to the fifth phase of Assembly elections on Monday. The districts going for polls include Balrampur, Gonda, Faizabad, Ambedkar Nagar, Bahraich, Shravasti, Siddharth Nagar, Basti, Sultanpur. Rahul Gandhi’s constituency Amethi will also be voting tomorrow.
