The Pune police was ordered by the Bombay High Court on Wednesday to trace a 24-year-old Delhi based model and another 16-year-old Nepalese girl who were allegedly raped and then forced into prostitution.
There were allegations levelled by the Nepalese girl that they were raped by more than hundred people including police officials.
“The allegations are of a very serious nature and we are concerned about the whereabouts of the victims. Make sincere efforts to trace them,” a division bench of Justices Ranjit More and Revati Dere told a national daily.
Anuja Kapur, a Delhi based lawyer sought the transfer this case to the CBI saying the two survivors are untraceable for over six months.
The High Court had slammed the state government as the two police officers that were named in the 16-year-old complaint were present in the court and were instructing the prosecutor. However the investigating officer of the case was missing from the court.
Anuja Kapur had also expressed concern and said that the case should be transferred to the CBI as the accused were influential people and the victims might be eliminated.
