At least 6 people have been killed while many are missing in Doda district of Jammu & Kashmir following cloudburst in the early hours on Thursday.

As per the reports, the cloudburst took place at 2 am in the morning triggering flash floods in the region in which several houses and shops were trapped. 

Meanwhile, rescue operation have started in the area to locate the missing persons and help the people to move to safer places.

“We have recovered three dead bodies from the debris of the collapsed houses so far. Two persons have been rescued alive. The rescue operation is still going on,” according to officials. 

Doda comes under the Jammu region and has received heavy rainfall this year.

Heavy rains have caused flash floods and landslides in many parts of the country including Assam, Manipur and Odisha.
