After the Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar said that no one can take on Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, the Congress on Monday mocked the JD(U) chief saying that he once had claimed that Modi would ruin the nation.

Now, Nitish Kumar will only sing praises of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Earlier he used to say Modi will ruin the nation and he won’t ally with BJP led-Central Government in any condition. He is a man of no principles and he won’t decide who will win the 2019 Lok Sabha election but the nation will,” senior Congress leader Anand Sharma told ANI.

Criticising the Bihar CM for joining Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Congress MP Rajeev Shukla said that the former did not have the courage to stand against the PM Modi.

Earlier in the day at a 75-minute press conference, Nitish Kumar defended his decision to tie up with the BJP ditching the RJD and the Congress and said his party will remain committed to the support already extended to opposition Vice President candidate Gopalkrishna Gandhi.

“I don’t think anyone is suitable for that. There is nobody who has the capacity to take on Modi,” Nitish Kumar said in reply to a question about the next general elections in which he has been speculated as a possible Prime Ministerial candidate.

He was critical of Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi’s remarks that he knew three months ago that the JD-U would tie up with the BJP in Bihar and asked if that was so then why didn’t he stop it.

“If he knew it then he should have told me. When I decided to support (NDA Presidential candidate Ram Nath) Kovind I told them. I spoke to Rahul over the corruption charges against RJD leaders and asked him to suggest ways to come out of that so that I can speak outside.”
