A Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) militant was arrested on Thursday in Jammu and Kashmir’s Sopore town, police said. As per official reports, two magazines and three cartridges were seized from Ishfaq Ahmad Kanna,who hails from Sopore. 

The accused had evaded a joint checkpost set up by police, Rashtriya Rifles and Central Reserve Police Force on Seer Amargarh road leading to the Sopore railway station and entered a nearby orchard. Security forces surrounded the orchard and arrested him.

The incident has come after two of the three Lashkar-e-Taiba militants were killed on Saturday in a gunfight by security forces in Sopore town of the Kashmir Valley.

While the third militant killed in the operation conducted jointly by the police, Army and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) in Amargarh area is yet to be identified, a police officer said.
