Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat on Tuesday unfurled the tricolour at a school in Palakkad district of Kerala despite being restrained by the authorities stating that no political leader can hoist flag at aided school.

The RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat was scheduled to hoist the national flag at the Karnakiyamman School in Palakkad district at around 9 am.

Meanwhile, the District Collector alerted the school authorities that it would be a violation of the norms if political or organisational leaders are allowed to hoist the national flag at aided schools.

Issuing an order in this regard, the government had said that either the school head or people’s representative will be allowed the hoist the tricolour.

As per reports, at around 1 am on Tuesday, the district authorities had issued a notice to the authorities asking them to comply with government’s order.

However, BJP and RSS leaders have challenged the order, claiming that anyone is allowed to hoist the national flag on the Independence Day as per the flag code.

Reports suggest that the school belongs to RSS supporters and they had invited Bhagwat to be the chief guest on India’s Independence Day.
