Passengers travelling from Mumbai to Nizamuddin in the August Kranti  Rajdhani Express were robbed around the area of Kota in Rajasthan. The robbers managed to steal Rs 10-15 lakh approximately, according to sources.

The thieves aimed all the AC-2 and AC-3 tier coaches of the Rajdhani Express and allegedly drugged the passengers too, as per reports.

An estimated 11 number of passengers have filed an FIR post the robbery. Various empty wallets were later found near the toilets.

On the reports of passengers being drugged, one of the traveler said, “We suddenly fell asleep and woke up realising our belongings had disappeared”.

Such robberies have raised a big question on the security of Indian railways as earlier in April this year the Delhi-Patna Rajdhani Express was robbed near Bihar where money to the tune of lakhs was stolen from sleeping passengers.

Ahead of this incident, Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu said CCTV cameras are being installed in coaches to keep a check on such incidents.
