In the ruling passed, a 5 judge constitutional bench by a 3:2 majority judgement said there is no constitutional protection for Triple talaq.

“As far as court order is concerned it has affected the rights of minority community to practice their religion.

We will take a serious note of it. We have called meeting of executive committee,” said the AIMPLB executive.

Meanwhile, the Union Sports minister, Vijay Goel hailed the decision over Triple talaq and tweeted:

Joining the chorus was Maulana Yasoob Abbas, Shia Cleric who said that Shia Personal Law Board has been fighting against Triple talaq since 2007. We welcome this decision by Supreme Court, Abbas added.
