In the wake of reshuffle of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s cabinet, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has met its ministers to discuss the important portfolios. According to sources, the reshuffle is believed to happen before Ganesh Chaturthi.
One AIADMK and two Janata Dal United JD(U) leaders are believed to be inducted in the cabinet and will be accommodated as ministers of state. Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has also been asked to travel to Delhi next week.
Some of the ministers of state could be promoted to cabinet rank.
The key portfolios to watch out for this time would be Defence, Railways, Finance, Environment, Information and Broadcasting and Urban Development.
Few days ago, PM Modi and party president Amit Shah had met the chief ministers and deputy chief ministers of BJP-ruled states. Shah even cancelled his visit to Tamil Nadu from August 22 to 24 in the wake of reshuffle.
A Bharatiya Janata Party leader said Shah’s visit had been “postponed due to some reasons” and new dates would be announced. However, BJP sources said the impending reshuffle of the union cabinet was one reason Shah would not go to Tamil Nadu on Tuesday. He was scheduled to be in Tamil Nadu from August 22 to August 24.
