In a new development in the Sunanda Pushkar‘s death case, the Patiala High Court on Tuesday ordered Delhi Police to file a compliance report by September 26. The court also asked the police to de-seal the room in Hotel Leela where the dead body of senior Congress leader Shashi Tharoor’s wife was found.
In January, 2014 the suite number 345 of Leela Hotel, New Delhi was sealed by Delhi Police after Sunanda Pushkar was found dead in it and the suite has been lying in a deserted state ever since.
The hotel authorities were requesting the police repeatedly to de-seal the suite as it was affecting the business. The hotel was not only losing rent but the sealed room was spreading filth and dirt within its proximity.
Apart from de-sealing of the room, the police has been granted to take anything, which might prove relevant or useful in case investigation, from the hotel room.
Sunanda Pushkar was found dead by husband Shashi Tharoor on January 17, 2017 in Leela Hotel located at Chanakyapuri, New Delhi. The couple temporarily moved to the hotel as their house was going through renovation.
The initial reports suggested that it was a possible suicide but the case intensified after post-mortem reports stated that the cause of death was unnatural.
