A special CBI court in Panchkula on Saturday (today) will be hearing two separate murder cases against rape convict Ram Rahim Singh. The accused on August 28 was convicted by a CBI court in two separate rape cases and sentenced to 20 years of imprisonment.
Ahead of the hearing, security has been tightened in Panchkula, Haryana.
The cases, related to the murder of Sirsa-based journalist Ram Chander Chhatrapati and former Dera manager Ranjit Singh, allegedly by functionaries and followers of the sect will be held in the court of special CBI judge Jagdeep Singh.
Leaving no lose situation and taking no chances of security lapse, Haryana Director General of Police BS Sandhu said that adequate para military and police personnel has been deployed.
BS Sandhu also mentioned that so far there are no reports of any Ram Rahim followers gathering in and around the court complex compared to the previous hearing when he was pronounced guilty by a CBI court.
Lakhs of property was damaged and several people lost their lives after Dera followers created massive law and order situation and vandalised Panchkula city on August 25 after Court’s verdict.
