Madras High Court on Wednesday extended the stay order on floor test in Tamil Nadu Assembly until further orders.
The court which was hearing plea of 18 disqualified AIADMK MLAs, who were supporting TTV Dinakaran’s faction, also directed no election notification to seats of 18 disqualified MLAs. So therefore, no stay on the disqualification.
The case has been adjourned till October 4.
Tamil Nadu Speaker P Dhanapal’s lawyer Aryama Sundaram said that there will not be floor tests for next days until counters are filed.
While hearing the matter, TTV Dinakaran’s lawyer Dushyant Dave said that MLAs didn’t vote against party or resigned. So why the question of anti defection? Speaker depriving right of MLAs.
“Why no committee was constituted according to laws of Assembly to enquire MLAs. Speaker is influenced by somebody,” Dinakaran lawyer said.
“Anti-defection law being misused by speaker,” Dushyant Dave added.
Meanwhile, DMK party’s meeting which was scheduled to take place to discuss party’s further stand on the TN situation has now been canceled.
