Dead body of kidnapped Income Tax official’s 19-year-old son was recovered from a lake in Bengaluru.  The deceased went out on his new bike on Tuesday last week and then went missing. Later, a WhatsApp video was sent to the teen’s parents, in which the victim was make to convey a ransom of Rs 50 lakh if he had to be set free.

19-year-old Sharath left home around 6.30pm on his new bike, saying he wanted to show to his friends. When Sharath did not return after a few hours his mother tried to call his cell phone but the calls went unattended. Later, the victim’s mother received a Whatsapp video from the victim’s phone. In the video the victim broke the news of his kidnapping and also asked his father to arrange Rs. 50 lakh for the ransom which was demanded by the kidnappers for his safe release.

In the same video, Sharath also told his parents that the kidnappers looked like terrorists and also threatened to kidnap his sister. The victim also asked his parents not to file a police complaint.

The mobile phone of the victim was switched off after the Whatsapp video was sent. Sharath was pursuing a Diploma course in automobile engineering at Acharya Institute of Engineering in the city.

As per reports, police have arrested six people in connection with this case and they are further probing the matter to nab the criminals involved in the matter.
