Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who currently touring his constituency Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh, laid the foundation for toilet under Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, in Shahanshahpur on Saturday.  Accompanying the Prime Minister was chief minister Yogi Adityanath and other party leaders.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi also visited Pashu Arogya Mela in Shahanshahpur. He will also address the farmers in the district.

The nation is currently celebrating Swachh Bharat abhiyan (mission), one of PM Modi’s flagship scheme to make India clean and eradicate the nation from open defecation.

On September 22, PM Modi, who is on a two-day visit to the temple town Varanasi, flagged off the Vadodara-Varanasi weekly express, which is equipped with LED screens and new, environment friendly toilets.

The Prime Minister also inaugurated 17 projects in his parliamentary constituency Varanasi and ‘digitally’ laid the foundation stone of six other projects.

PM Modi also visited famous Tulsi Manas and Durga Kund temples and offered his prayers.

South sensation Rajinikanth also extended his support to the Swachhta Hi Seva (cleanliness is service) mission.

“I extend my full support to our honourable Prime Minister Narendra Modi ji’s Swachhta Hi Seva mission. Cleanliness is godliness,” Rajinikanth said in a Twitter on Friday.

Taking a dig at previous governments in the state, PM Modi said they seemed to have an antipathy for development. They were only busy splurging public money for electoral benefits.

The poor were now aspiring to give their next generations a better future and assured that the state government was with them in empowering them for this, PM Modi added. 

Referring to the inauguration of water ambulances and the hearse carrying boats, the Prime Minister said this was being done for better utilisation of the mode of transport that the rivers offer as well as to tackle the traffic congestion problem in Varanasi.
