The bail plea filed by Honeypreet Insan’s lawyer has been rejected by the Delhi High court on Tuesday. Honeypreet Insan, who is on the run following conviction of Dera Sacha Sauda chief Ram Rahim Singh in two rape cases, had sought transit anticipatory bail from Delhi High Court on Monday.
According to the prosecution lawyer, the Delhi HC called her bail plea a time pass stating that she should have filed the application before the Punjab and Harayana HC instead of Delhi HC.
The court said we need to see bonafides whether the person actually resides in the jurisdiction of the concerned court, added the Prosecution lawyer.
“We are examining the order, will see what can be done now,” said Pradeep Arya, lawyer of HoneyPreet Insan said in a statement.
The Delhi High Court on earlier on Tuesday had reserved its order on the bail plea of Honeypreet Singh, the adopted daughter of rape convict Ram Rahim Singh who is serving his jail term in Rohtak jail.
Honeypreet Insan was on the run as she was accused for inciting violence following the conviction of Ram Rahim Singh. Look out notice and search operations are underway to trace her location after violence erupted in Panchkula, Haryana and over 30 people had lost their lives.
Honeypreet Insan in her bail plea have given assurance to the court that she was to cooperate in the investigation. Honeypreet said whenever the investigating agency will call her she is ready to cooperate in the investigation.
Honeypreet mentioned in her bail plea that she will not leave the country until the court grants her the permission to do so. She also informed it to the court that no other petition was filed in any court other than the High Court.
Hearing Honeypreet’s bail plea, the Delhi High Court had asked her that how does this application comes under jurisdiction of Delhi HC?
Responding to the court’s query, Honeypreet’s lawyer said that she has house in Delhi and has apprehension to be arrested.
Meanwhile, the Panchkula police earlier in the carried raids at Honeypreet’s Greater Kailash area residence after some inputs that she might have been there but she was not found. The police later concluded Honeypreet had not visited or stayed at the location recently.
