In an attempt to defend the government’s biggest decisions and reform, which has affected the economy and caused a downfall, Union Minister Piyush Goyal has come out and spoken about the economy after former Finance Minister Yashwant Sinha blamed the government’s two big move, one of bringing the Goods and Services Tax (GST) and demonetisation for the economic downfall.

Hailing Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s as a leader, Piyush Goyal said that the whole country and the world has seen, under the decisive leadership of PM Modi, India has become world’s fastest growing economy for three years in a row.

“For the first time in the Indian history that India is driving the world growth at the levels that we are today. If you see some of the landmark reforms that this government has brought in, they are unprecedented.”

Speaking on GST, he said, “something  like this (GST) was never imagined to be possible in a country of a size and scale like India, in fact we are the largest country of the world to have implemented the GST. The kind of structural changes that we have brought at different aspects of the economy or different aspect of the government’s working, breaking the silos within different departments and working as one strong entity and with a steadfast purpose of serving the poorest of the poor. The poor has been the focus of any action of this government. This kind of massive structural landmark reforms that this government has done and given this nation one of the cleanest government ever, which is scam free.”

“In three years this government has brought in an mage for India, both nationally and internationally, of a government that can work honestly and for the welfare of the poorest of poor, and in many ways a government for the first time in the history of India which has attacked corruption, black money at never before levels,” Piyush Goyal added.

Piyush Goyal’s response on the GST, and government’s functioning, have come after former Finance Minister Yashwant Sinha, while writing in a leading newspaper, blamed Finance Minister Arun Jaitley and the government for the downfall of the economy.

The former Finance Minister Yashwant Sinha while mentioning that it was a national duty for him to come out and speak up about the current status of economy that has been put in a ‘mess’ and blaming the Finance Minister Arun Jaitley for it.

Speaking over the economic slowdown, Yashwant Sinha in his sharp criticism of the Finance Minister Arun Jaitley blamed him for speeding in the implementation of the Goods and Services Tax (GST).

Yashwant Sinha not only blamed government’s unwanted rush to implement the GST but he also pulled in PM Modi’s November 8 shock to the country when he announced the ban of Rs 500, Rs 1000 notes.

Former Finance Minister Yashwant Sinha also mentioned that many others in the government also share acceptance to his analysis but fear to come out in the open.
