Satya Pal Malik has been appointed as the new Governor of Bihar on Saturday after the post went vacant when the former Governor Ram Nath Kovind took oath as the President of India. Satya Pal Malik is a former Member of Parliament and currently holds the designation of BJP’s national vice-president. When Ram Nath Kovind was nominated as the President of India, West Bengal Governor Keshari Nath Tripathi was given the additional charge of Bihar.

After being appointed as the Bihar Governor, Satya Pal Malik said, “I understand the responsibility given to me and will fulfil it whole-heartedly.”

71-year-old Satya Pal Malik has held important positions in the State and Central governments. He has also served as Union Minister of State, Parliamentary Affairs and Tourism. He has been a Member of Parliament from Aligarh in 1989 on ticket of Janata Dal. He was the member of the 9th Lok Sabha and represented Aligarh Constituency from 1989 to 1991. Satya Pal Malik was also a Member of Uttar Pradesh Assembly from 1974 to 1977. Satya Pal Malik has also been a parliamentarian for three terms.

Satya Pal Malik pursued his LLB before joining politics, he completed his BSc and LLB from Meerut University and also holds a Diploma in Parliamentary Affairs from Institute of Constitutional and Parliamentary Studies run by Parliament of India.

President Ram Nath Kovind on Saturday morning appointed five new Governors for the states of Arunachal Pradesh, Bihar, Tamil Nadu, Assam and Meghalaya. The appointments will come into effect from the date the incumbents assume charge of the new posts, President’s office said in an official statement.
