Samajwadi Party spokesperson Pankhuri Pathak has alleged online rape threat from a person named Pankaj Shukla. Pankhuri tweeted that a person named Pankaj Shukla working with Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Limited (UPPCL) gave her rape threats. The tweet was posted with a screenshot of the accused’s profile and the comment which points to a rape threat. On the same tweet she tagged UPPCL, Srikanth Sharma, UP CM’s office, Chief Secretary of UP and Uttar Pradesh Police and questioned whether they will take any action against the accused?
The above tweet has received more than 357 responses and 1400 re-tweets.
In another tweet Pankhuri Pathak wrote that she is not afraid of any sort of threat and also questioned whether should a government employee write such things on a social media platform?
While speaking to NewsX, Pankhuri Pathak said, “This is not the first time such sort of a threat has been given to her. Women who speak about social issues on the social media platform face this on daily basis.”
Noida Samajwadi Party workers filed a complaint with the Noida Police in the same matter. However, Pankhuri told NewsX that she has not received any response from UPPCL, Srikanth Sharma, UP CM’s office, Chief Secretary of UP or Uttar Pradesh Police who were notified about the incident on Twitter.
Earlier this year, BJP Spokesperson Prem Shukla made objectionable comments against Pankhuri Pathak during a political debate. During the debate on a prominent news channel Shukla became agitated and shouted at Pankhuri, saying, “Don’t try to fly high Miss Pankhuri, I will reveal such things about you which will embarrass you.
Pankhuri later filed a complaint against the BJP spokesperson with the police in Noida Sector 58.
