#Bengalurushocker: School headmistress assaulted by a local BJP leader

There have been numerous incidents in the past too when politicians and people of influence have abused civilians. This act of power going to one’s head is not common but a sad aspect in the country. Understandably, there was widespread criticism of this assault on a woman. The attitude also brings forth the issue of women safety in a patriarchal world. Earlier in October this year, a woman councillor was assaulted by a group of men, who were the supporters of a local MLA. She was subjected to the physical assault after objecting to the men who were drinking alcohol in public.

In June this year, a woman government employee was thrashed and assaulted by her colleague at Raichur’s Sindhanur city corporation in Karnataka. The woman was beaten by her senior after she allegedly turned up late for work. The incident was caught on the CCTV camera and a police complaint was later filed in the case, followed by the arrest of the accused.
