DGCA has initiated a probe into the accident of a Chhattisgarh government-owned Augusta 109 helicopter at Raipur’s Swami Vivekanand Airport on Thursday night, which killed two pilots.
Today, a team of DGCA officials arrives at the airport. DGCA’s senior official stated “On the scene is a team from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation. We’re investigating this regrettable occurrence.”
Civil Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia also expressed his condolences for the pilots’ deaths on Twitter.
He wrote in Hindi, “I pray to God for peace for the departed souls and strength for their families to face the pain.”
He also promised that the DGCA and the Chhattisgarh government will conduct a comprehensive investigation into the occurrence.
Initial indications suggested that the disaster was caused by a technical problem, according to the state authorities.
At roughly 9:10 p.m., the mishap occurred during a “regular” training sortie at the airfield. Captain Gopal Krishna Panda and Captain A P Shrivastava died as a result of their injuries.
Bhupesh Baghel, the Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh, expressed sincere sorrow for the deaths. He requested that the bereaved relatives receive prompt assistance.
However, DGCA and the Chhattisgarh government will conduct a thorough technical inquiry to determine the actual cause of the accident.
