On Friday, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) summoned Congress leader Rahul Gandhi for a fourth round of questioning in the National Herald case.
Gandhi was questioned for over eight hours on day three.
The Congress party protested outside the Enforcement Directorate (ED) office and party headquarters in Delhi on Wednesday, as the ED questioned Congress leader Rahul Gandhi for the third day in a money laundering case involving the National Herald newspaper.
On the third day of Rahul Gandhi’s questioning at the Enforcement Directorate (ED) office, Delhi Police arrested a total of 240 demonstrators.
Rahul arrived at the ED office around 11:35 a.m., and his interrogation began at 12 p.m. The ED has been video and audio recording his statements, which are typed on A4 size paper and are thoroughly reviewed and signed by him before being submitted to the investigating officer.
The ED wants to know about his “personal role” in making decisions about the National Herald and its owner, Young Indian.
According to ED sources, Rahul is being questioned about the assets “owned” by Associated Journals Limited (AJL) worth approximately Rs 800 crore, as well as how a not-for-profit company like Young Indian Limited (YIL) was engaging in commercial activities such as renting out its land and building assets.
Since Monday, Rahul has been questioned for more than 24 hours. He was questioned for over 11 hours on Tuesday and left the ED after 11 p.m.
Officials said Rahul was summoned on Wednesday because questioning and recording a statement were taking too long.
While ED sources stated that Rahul recorded his statement and meticulously reviewed the transcript, Congress leaders claimed that the investigators took numerous breaks during his questioning on Monday.
