On Sunday, the Magadh Express, traveling from New Delhi to Islampur, experienced a significant malfunction as it split into two due to a coupling failure. The incident occurred around 11:08 a.m. between Twiniganj and Raghunathpur railway stations in Buxar district, Bihar. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.

Details of the Incident

The Chief Public Relations Officer (CPRO) of East Central Railway, Sharswati Chandra, provided details on the incident, stating, “The incident took place when the coupling of the Magadh Express (20802) from New Delhi to Islampur broke, splitting the train into two between Twiniganj and Raghunathpur railway stations.”

According to Chandra, the uncoupling occurred between coach S-7, the thirteenth from the engine, and coach S-6, the fourteenth from the engine, shortly after the train passed Twiniganj. The separation happened on the down line between the two stations.

Immediate Response and Current Status

A rescue team and technical experts promptly arrived at the scene to address the situation. Efforts are underway to rectify the issue and restore normal operations as quickly as possible. “A rescue team as well as technical teams have reached the spot and officials are trying to rectify it at the earliest,” Chandra added.

Train traffic on the down line was temporarily disrupted but is expected to be restored within an hour, according to the CPRO.

An inquiry will be conducted to determine the exact cause of the coupling failure. The railway authorities are committed to investigating the incident thoroughly to prevent similar occurrences in the future.
