While celebrating the birth anniversary of former Prime Minister of India, Indira Gandhi, Congress’ senior leader, Ghulam Nabi Azad took a dig at Narendra Modi by calling him a ‘prime minister on TV only’. Senior leader Azad along with other Congress leaders and workers had gathered at the Rajya Sabha to mark the 100th birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. Azad also criticised the leader over his remark, questioning ‘what Congress has done for the nation in last 70 years’.

Highlighting the achievements of Congress party, senior leader Ghulam Nabi Azad said, “I would like to tell Modi that in 1940s, India had a population of 20 crore and due to scarcity of food, 10 lakh people had died in Bengal, but now none of the 120 crore Indians are dying due to food shortage and food crops are being exported to many countries too”.

“This is what we (Congress) have done in the last 70 years,” he added.

Taking a jibe over Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s media addresses, rallies, Azad said that Modi is PM on television only. Targeting the ruling of BJP, Azad said, “You (Modi) are the prime minister on TV only. Our prime minister (from the Congress) was on ground.”

Attacking the BJP party over their promises before winning 2014 elections, Ghulam Nabi Azad said that the BJP had promised 10 crore jobs but instead 15 crore people have been rendered jobless under this government.

During his address, Ghulam Nabi Azad also attacked those who had quit the party claiming that these people have no ideology of their own. He said, “People who leave one party for another do not have any ideology. This needs to be stopped.”

Previously on Wednesday, during his 3-dat visit to his constituency Amethi, Rahul Gandhi said that if the Prime Minister Modi was unable to solve the issues of farmers in the country or if he was unable to generate employment for the youths, then he should admit it and tell us.

He further said that the Congress party will come and do all what is necessary in six months. Criticising the Prime Minister, Rahul Gandhi also mentioned that PM should stop wasting the time and do something to generate employment for the people of this country.
