PM Modi to visit Haryana & Punjab today, unveil two health initiatives

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Haryana and Punjab on Wednesday to inaugurate and dedicate two key health programmes to the country.

The Prime Minister will dedicate the ‘Homi Bhabha Cancer Hospital & Research Centre’ to the nation at Mullanpur in New Chandigarh, Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar District in Mohali at around 02:15 PM after inaugurating Amrita Hospital in Faridabad, Haryana, according to a statement from the Prime Minister’s Office. The opening of Amrita Hospital in Faridabad would increase the availability of sophisticated medical facilities in the National Capital Region (NCR).

The super-speciality hospital, which will be managed by Mata Amritanandamayi Math, would have 2600 beds. The hospital, which is being built at a cost of over Rs. 6000 crore, would deliver cutting-edge healthcare to the inhabitants of Faridabad and the wider NCR area.

The Prime Minister will dedicate the ‘Homi Bhabha Cancer Hospital & Research Centre’ to the Nation in Mullanpur, New Chandigarh, Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar District in an effort to deliver world-class cancer care to citizens of Punjab and neighbouring states and UTs (Mohali).
Tata Memorial Centre, an aided institute under the Department of Atomic Energy, Government of India, developed the hospital at a cost of about Rs. 660 crore.

The cancer hospital is a 300-bed tertiary care hospital with sophisticated facilities to treat all forms of malignancies utilising all available treatment methods such as surgery, radiotherapy, and medical oncology – chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and bone marrow transplant.

The hospital will serve as a “hub” for cancer care and treatment in the region, with the 100-bed hospital in Sangrur serving as a “spoke.”
