NDA's presidential candidate Droupadi Murmu to file nomination on June 24

PM Narendra Modi is expected to propose Droupadi Murmu’s name for nomination on June 24

Droupadi Murmu, the presidential candidate picked by the Bharatiya Janata Party-led NDA, is expected to file her nomination papers on Friday, according to reliable sources.

Sources state that Prime Minister Narendra Modi would propose her name for nomination on June 24, which will be seconded by the party’s national president, JP Nadda. However, BJP has invited all the partners, including the chief ministers of the country’s NDA-ruled states, to the nomination event.

Meanwhile, the National People’s Party (NPP) head and Meghalaya chief minister Conrad Sangma, as well as Nagaland chief minister Nephiu Rio, have already announced their participation in the Presidential election nomination on Friday.

It is also said that Nitish Kumar will be present during the nomination.

According to insiders, the preparations for Murmu’s nomination are well underway.

Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik urged all MLAs in the state to back Murmu’s candidacy today.

Notably, the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) led by Naveen Patnaik is not an ally of the NDA but is frequently seen backing the NDA administration on critical issues and legislation. He officially backed Murmu’s candidacy for the next presidential elections, which are set to take place on July 18.

JP Nadda declared Droupadi Murmu as the NDA candidate for the forthcoming presidential election during a news conference at the party headquarters on Monday. Nadda further stated that the BJP Parliamentary Board and its NDA allies reviewed around 20 candidates before selecting Murmu as their presidential candidate.

The results of the July 18 elections for India’s next President will be announced on July 21.

Droupadi Murmu is expected to become India’s next president, and if she succeeds, she would be the country’s first tribal president and the country’s second woman president since independence.
