The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Friday filed a chargesheet against Kashmir-based rights activist Khurram Parvez and its former decorated officer, Superintendent of Police Arvind Digvijay Negi, among others, in its investigation into Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) funding and recruitment of overground workers (OGWs) in Jammu and Kashmir.
Negi has been charged with violating the Official Secrets Act (OSA), corruption, and criminal conspiracy for allegedly leaking official secret data to other accused parties for monetary gain and requesting money for compromising an investigation. He had been investigating terror-funding cases at the NIA for some years.
Negi was a member of the team that searched rights activist Khurram Parvez’s home in October 2020 as part of the NGO terror-funding case, which was separate from the agency’s bigger conspiracy terror-funding probe in J&K in 2017. He had been awarded a heroism medal for his work in the J&K terror-funding investigation involving the Hurriyat leadership.
