On Friday, Surinder Koli and Moninder Singh Pandher, the main convicts of the disastrous and appalling Nithari serial murder cases, have been given death sentence by a local CBI court in Ghaziabad. Both the culprits were held guilty in the rape and murder of housemaid Anjali in 2006. The verdict has come after prosecution lawyer J.P. Sharma informed news agencies that the court will pronounce the quantum of punishment in the ninth case of the Nithari killings today. The court held businessman Monider Singh Pandher and his ally Surendra Koli guilty of the charge under Sections 376 (rape), 302 (murder) and 201 (causing the disappearance of evidence or false information) of the Indian Penal Code.
Both accused were involved in the horrendous killing and abduction of many children. Pandher and Koili mercilessly tortured and killed children in a businessman’s house in Noida. As per reports, Pandher has been found guilty in three cases out of which he received the death sentence in two of them. Pandher’s house servant Koli on the other was found guilty in eight cases of the Nithari killings and was given the death sentence. Chargesheets were filed against the two accused in 16 of the 19 cases. Both accused have been given death sentence in the ninth case by the Special CBI court.
“The court agreed that this was inhuman and the rarest of the rare case. The CBI hadn’t produced any evidence against Pandher, and he was punished following the victim’s statement. Under Section 302, they had been given the death sentence. A penalty has also been imposed on them. Surinder Koli and Pandher both were found guilty,” the victim’s advocate Khalid Khan said after the verdict. Pinki Sarkar’s mother also spoke to media after the verdict and said she won’t rest until justice is delivered. “We will fight for our rights. The court has given the order; implementing it will take another 10-11 years. As long as that doesn’t happen, I won’t be at rest,” she said.
