Coming out as a fresh twist in the Panchkula violence that erupted right after the conviction of ex-Dera Sacha Sauda Chief, Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh, is that Ram Rahim’s adopted daughter Honeypreet Insaan aka Priyanka Taneja, allegedly plaid Rs 1.25 cr to Dera Sacha Sauda’s Panchkula branch head, Chamkaur Singh, ahead of Ram Rahim’s conviction. The revelations were made by Rakesh Kumar, personal assistant-cum-driver of Gurmeet, during interrogation. Ram Rahim, who was accused in two rape cases, was convicted on August 25, By Panchkula special Court. He has been rewarded 20 years of prison time.

Commenting on the matter, the investigating police official said that just a few day before Ram Rahim was to be convicted, Honeypreet bribed supporters to spark a riot in Panchkula. The attempts were made to create ruckus in the area to stop Ram Rahim from being taken to the prison. At least 35 people were killed in the riot that took place in Panchkula. Following the incident, the whole area was cordoned off.

Further disclosing the matter, ACP Mukesh Malhotra, the head of special investigation team (SIT) said that Rakesh Kumar is currently under police custody. Rakesh was arrested on September 27. He had accompanied Gurmeet and Honeypreet to Panchkula on the day of the verdict. Later, on August 26, he also took Honeypreet from Rohtak to Sirsa.

While speaking to a daily, Panchkula police commissioner confirmed that Rs 1.25 crore was handed over to Chamkaur but refused to share more details. ACP also confirmed that the broad planning of the violence on August 25 was done in the Dera headquarters in Sirsa ahead of the verdict in the rape case.

Earlier on October 6, Haryana police recovered a hard disk, containing the property details, amounting more than Rs 700 cr. The disk, which is also said to be also containing the details about the Ram Rahim’s associates, will be handed over to Enforcement Directorate (ED) for further investigations.

According to Haryana Police, the hard disk was recovered during the raids at different places. According to the police, several attempts were made to destroy the hard disk by Dera Sacha Sauda supporters but the police was still able to recover enough information. While disclosing a few details from the hard disk, a police official said that the hard disk recovered has information about Dera Sacha Sauda investments, how many people have received money from the organisation and also the investments made by the ex-Dera Sacha Sauda chief.
