On the first day of the upcoming presidential elections, eleven candidates filed their nominations. According to sources, one of them’s paper was rejected due to a lack of proper documentation. The presidential election will be held on July 18, and nominations will be accepted until June 29.

On Wednesday, the notification calling electors to fill the country’s highest constitutional post was issued, kicking off the nomination process.

According to parliamentary sources, among those who filed papers was Lalu Prasad Yadav of Saran, Bihar.

A nomination paper for an election candidate must be made in the prescribed format and signed by at least 50 electors as proposers and at least 50 electors as seconders.
