Uttar Pradesh Police arrest 2 suspected Jaish-e-Mohammed terrorists from Saharanpur: The Uttar Pradesh Police on Friday arrested two suspected Jaish-e-Mohammed terrorists from Saharanpur, reports said. The Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) of the Uttar Pradesh Police raided a private hostel located near the Khankah police station and took 10 people into custody out of which two were arrested. The suspected terrorists have been identified as Shahnawaz Ahmed Teli and Aqib Ahamed Malik. Teli is a resident of Jammu & Kashmir’s Kulgam district and he is suspected to be involved in the suicide car bomb attack on the CRPF jawans which claimed 40 lives. Primary reports suggest that Teli played a key role in recruiting terrorists on Jaish’s orders while the identity of the other accused has not been confirmed yet.

The anti-terror raids are underway in west Uttar Pradesh and all ten persons arrested by the UP-ATS are being questioned now. In this regard, Uttar Pradesh DGP O P Singh held a press conference and revealed that of the two arrested Shahnawaz is said to be a grenade expert, adding that UP police will seek transit remand and investigate when did they come to UP from Kashmir and who is funding them and who was the target.

DGP Singh said that they have recovered video clips and messages from their mobiles, which would be sent for forensic examination. Apart from the electronic item, the police recovered pistols and live cartridges as well.

The UP-ATS launched the raid in Deoband in the early hours of Friday after intelligence sources warned that the JeM is now planning to launch multiple terror attacks in J&K and other states of the country.
