The BJP chastised Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday for meeting British Labour Party leader Jeremy Corbyn in London. The BJP chastised the Congress MP for allegedly endorsing the “anti-India” views of the UK MP on foreign soil.

The remarks sparked outrage on social media when BJP leader and Union law minister Kiren Rijiju shared a photo of Gandhi’s meeting with Corbyn and accused the former Congress president of betraying his country.

“Again.. Rahul Gandhi meets UK MP and Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn who is known for his hatred and dislike for India, advocates Kashmir’s secession. Or how long and how much one can go on against one’s own country,” Rijiju penned.

Similar sentiments were expressed by BJP leader Kapil Mishra and IT cell head Amit Malviya, who referred to Gandhi as Corbyn’s “overseas collaborator” for his disdain for India.

“Jeremy is well-known for his visceral dislike of India, his support for Kashmir’s secession, and his unambiguous anti-Hindu stance. Gandhi has finally found an overseas collaborator who, like him, denigrates India with impunity “According to Malviya.

The Congress Party defended Gandhi’s meeting with Corbyn, sharing photos of the Labour leader with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and questioning whether he, too, supported the “anti-India” views of the UK Labour leader and MP.

“Am amazed as to how dearest friends in TV Media have to bend over backwards to serve the idiotic agenda of Government and ilk of Kapil Mishra,” said Congress chief spokesperson Randeep Surjewala.
