Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav and Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi, amid the politically charged atmosphere in the state, addressed a joint-rally in Kanpur and hit out PM Modi and the BJP-led central government.

Taking a jibe on PM Modi’s demonetisation move, Akhilesh Yadav said, “The ones who talked about the ‘acche din’ made people stand in long queues.”

Rahul Gandhi also stepped up attack on PM Modi and said, “Like after Bihar poll results Modiji stopped taking name of the state, in the same way after the UP elections, he will stop taking name of this state too.”

Defining his own version of ‘SCAM’, the Congress vice-president said, “For me, the meaning of SCAM is Seva, Courage, Ability, Modesty.”

“The one who indulge in scams doing sees scams everywhere,” Rahul added.

Yesterday, while addressing a public rally in UP’s Meerut district, PM Modi targeted its political rivals in the state and said, “Scam is an acronym for Samajwadi Party, Congress, Akhilesh Yadav and Mayawati.”

“Do you know what ‘Scam’ stands for? It is ‘S’ for Samajwadi Party, ‘C’ for Congress, ‘A’ for Akhilesh and ‘M’ for Mayawati,” PM Modi added.
