Tamil superstar Rajinikanth, who has announced his entry into politics, on Monday hit out at Tamil Nadu Chief Minister E Palaniswami for not attending late DMK chief M. Karunanidhi’s funeral on August 8 at Marina beach in Chennai. Karunanidhi who took his last breath on August 7 at 6:10 pm, was given a state funeral and 7 days mourning by the state authorities. The former 5-time Tamil Nadu chief minister and DMK chief had been admitted to Chennai’s Kauvery Hospital after his health deteriorated.

On Monday, Rajinikanth hit out at Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and AIADMK chief Edappadi K Palaniswami for not attending the DMK patriarch’s funeral. Rajinikanth, who a few months back announced his entry into politics, had visited Karunanidhi after declaring his entry into politics. Rajini had visited the DMK chief to seek his blessings for to enter politics.

Earlier, Rajinikanth had upped the ante against the AIADMK government in Tamil Nadu after it had denied permission to allow Karunanidhi’s burial to take place at Marina Beach in Chennai. Rajinikanth had said he would have protested if the Madras High Court had not allowed Karunanidhi’s burial to take place at Marina Beach.

The DMK had filed a plea in the Madras High Court after the state government had said no to Karunanidhi’s burial at the Marina Beach. Following the appeal, the court had allowed the DMK to carry out Karunanidhi’s funeral at the beach. In a new turn to the DMK saga, Karunanidhi’s elder son MK Alagiri has raised the banner of revolt against MK Stalin the party’s working president, a day ahead of the party’s crucial meeting.
