According to reports, a guy was allegedly decapitated by two men in broad daylight in the region on Tuesday, prompting the National Investigation Agency (NIA) to send a team to Udaipur in the state of Rajasthan.

An official with the rank of Deputy Inspector General (DIG) is part of the NIA team, a source said ANI while requesting anonymity, adding that the action was taken in response to a directive from the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA). After inspecting the crime scene, the NIA team is expected to file a complaint in accordance with the terms of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, according to government sources.

The event happened in the Maldas neighbourhood of Udaipur. According to authorities, the two suspects released a video on social media shortly after the crime gloating about the beheading and also threatening the life of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

After the event, the two suspects were detained shortly after.

According to authorities, one of the attackers, Riyaz Akhtar, used a sharp-edged weapon to strike Kanhaiya Lal while the other, Ghos Mohammad, videotaped the incident on his cell phone.

According to reports, the victim, a tailor, had published a social media message in support of Nupur Sharma, a former BJP politician who had made contentious comments against the Prophet Mohammad.

Local markets in the vicinity were closed after the murder because the shopkeepers wanted justice for the victim.

Following this, internet access has been blocked for the next 24 hours, and a curfew has been implemented in Udaipur.
