Vice Presidential election: BJP to nominate Naqvi?

Naqvi was instrumental in ensuring the victory of BJP candidates in the recent Azamgarh and Rampur Lok Sabha elections in Uttar Pradesh.

Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi appears to have received good news from the corridors of power. He is widely regarded as the front-runner among the NDA’s potential Vice Presidential candidates. An official announcement is expected soon, but if nothing unexpected happens within the BJP, Naqvi is almost certain to be the NDA candidate.

According to speculation, Naqvi’s candidacy would force the opposition to support him. “Throughout his tenure as a Minister of Minority Affairs or as a deputy leader in the Rajya Sabha, Naqvi has always demonstrated his political maturity, impartiality, and uprightness,” a BJP leader said.

There is no Muslim minister in the Cabinet after Naqvi, and the BJP does not have a Muslim MP among its nearly 400 members of Parliament. Naqvi was instrumental in ensuring the victory of BJP candidates in the recent Azamgarh and Rampur Lok Sabha elections in Uttar Pradesh.

But, as the saying goes, there are many slips between the cup and the lip. So, even though Naqvi’s name is ‘almost final,’ three new names have emerged as possible candidates: Suresh Prabhu, Hardeep Puri, and SS Ahluwalia. They join four others: Arif Arif Khan, Najma Heptullah, Capt Amrinder Singh, and Anandiben Patel.
