Western rumours about Xinjiang debunked by Chinese envoy

China’s deputy permanent representative to the United Nations, Dai Bing, rejected Western countries’ fabrications about the situation in China’s Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region on Thursday.

Dai made the statements during a high-level open debate on improving accountability and justice for egregious violations of international law before the United Nations Security Council.

The claim of “genocide” and “forced labour” in Xinjiang, according to the Chinese envoy, is a century-old fiction.

Dai stated that the United States and the United Kingdom are concerned that their falsehoods about “genocide” and “forced labour” will be exposed in front of the international community, therefore they have gone so far as to deceive the international community with further lies about China.

He emphasised that no matter how many lies the US publishes, they will not be able to disguise the fact that Xinjiang is stable and prosperous, and its people live happy and fulfilled lives.

Anyone who has visited Xinjiang would never agree with the US and UK’s lies, Dai said, adding that their actions only serve to demonstrate how they have politicised human rights concerns and expose their strategy to restrict China with the Xinjiang issue.

Dai also wondered if countries or individuals such as the United States and the United Kingdom, who shamelessly spread lies and rumours to confuse the public and malign other countries, should be held liable as well.
