The Aam Aadmi Party, led by Arvind Kejriwal, is seeking a third consecutive term after securing landslide victories in 2015 and 2020. Prior to AAP’s rise, the Congress ruled Delhi for 15 years. The BJP last held power in the national capital 27 years ago.

Arvind Kejriwal, AAP’s national convenor and former Chief Minister, is contesting from the New Delhi seat. The BJP has fielded Parvesh Verma, former MP and son of ex-Delhi CM Sahib Singh Verma, to challenge him. Congress has nominated Sandeep Dikshit, son of former Delhi CM Sheila Dikshit, for the same seat.

In 2020, AAP won 62 out of 70 seats, while the BJP secured 8 seats. Congress failed to win any seat. In 2015, AAP achieved a historic victory, winning 67 seats, with the BJP taking the remaining three.
