Nawazuddin Siddiqui‘s mother Mehroonisa Siddiqui has been named by BBC in its 100 Most Influential Women list. Nawazuddin Siddiqui used micro blogging site Twitter to share this new, he wrote,”A Lady who showed courage against all odds being in a conservative Family from a small village-My Mother #100MostInfluentialWomenInTheWorld.” 65-year-old, Mehroonisa Siddiqui is a house maker and believes “it is never too late to learn anything.”

BBC also announced a list of 100 women who are inspirational and innovative. Indian women’s cricket team captain Mithali Raj also made it to the 100 Most Influential Women list of BBC. Other Indians in the list are Urvashi Sahni, Priyanka Roy and Nitya Thummalachetty.

All the women who featured on the list have tackled some of the biggest problems in their lives.  However, there are 40 vacant positions on the list. After this, BCC will challenge them to tackle four of the biggest problems women face today – the glass ceiling, female illiteracy, harassment in public spaces and sexism in sport.

Nawazuddin Siddiqui started his career in Bollywood with very small roles. He featured in minor roles in movies like Sarfarosh, Shool, Jungle, Peepli Live, Black & White, New York and Ek Chalis Ki Last Local.

The actor became very popular after he featured in Anurag Kashyap directed Gangs of Wasseypur. He also featured in movies like Talaash, The Lunchbox, Badlapur, Bajrangi Bhaijaan, Raman Raghav 2.0 and Kahaani. Nawazuddin Siddiqui last movie was ‘Babumoshaai Bandookbaaz’ and will feature next in Nandita Das’ film Manto.
