Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Pune on August 1 and will inaugurate the much-awaited two stretches of the Metro. The inauguration ceremony will include a stretch from Phugewadi to Shivajinagar and other stretches from Garware College to Ruby Hall Clinic.
Maharashtra Metro officials reported that both stretches of the metro are finally complete and ready for inauguration. The final inspection has already been conducted by the Commissioner of Railway Safety, who has permitted us to go ahead and start the services on both routes pending the safety compliance certificate.
Residents of Pimpri-Chinchwad and Pune are looking forward to the approaching inauguration since the metro service is intended to relieve traffic congestion on the Pune-Mumbai motorway. It would play a key role and aid college students and office workers who travel between Pimpri-Chinchwad and Pune city for employment and education on a regular basis.
The Prime Minister will also receive the prestigious Lokmanya Tilak National Award in Pune. The Lokmanya Tilak Smarak Mandir Trust bestows the honour on him in recognition of his “exceptional leadership” and attempts to instill patriotism in Indian citizens. The trust announced it would give the prize to PM Modi on the 103rd anniversary of Lokmanya Tilak’s death. The ceremony is scheduled to take place in Pune, and Sharad Pawar has been invited as the chief guest.
PM Modi is likely to share the dais with Nationalist Congress Party Chief Sharad Pawar for an event in the city. This will be his first meet after the NCP split.
